2008 This workshop aims to further equip counsellors to work effectively with children who have experienced sexual abuse. It will provide an understanding of the strategies used by people who sexually offend to target and maintain secrecy and control over a child. Children who are sexually abused are often left with understanding their abuse experience from the offender’s distorted perspective. Understanding offender tactics provides therapists and counsellors’ with a framework for children and their non abusive caregiver(s) in unravelling misplaced responsibility and self blame. A frame work for assessment and therapeutic interventions to assist children and their families in healing after the impact child sexual abuse will be provided
