Practices Duration: 2days This workshop is designed to provide professionals who work therapeutically with children, an opportunity to gain some core understanding of the issues related to children’s work, and an opportunity to be introduced to a range of materials that can be helpful in supporting children to access and express their concerns. Tools such as Sand tray, drawing, bear cards, stories etc will be discussed and demonstrated. Some time to practice with projective methods will also be made available.
Working with Children Whose Parents Have Separated Date: Friday 16 May Time: 9:30-4:00pm Cost: $154.00 This one-day workshop will explore the developmental, therapeutic and ethical issues encountered in working with children whose parents have separated. There will be a particular focus on therapeutic models, processes and activities that can support children to make sense of the changers in their lives and cope with the stresses they experience in relation to parental conflict, separation and divorce.

Children
and Young People Living with Domestic or Family Abuse Research has highlighted the negative impacts for children living with domestic violence on their development, sense of self, future behaviour and relationships. This one day workshop will explore the impact of domestic violence on children and provide a framework for intervention, assessment tools and therapeutic needs of children and young people who have experienced domestic or family violence. on Who? Counselling Children Who Have Experienced Sexual Abuse This workshop aims to further equip counsellors to work effectively with children who have experienced sexual abuse. It will provide an understanding of the strategies used by people who sexually offend to target and maintain secrecy and control over a child. Children who are sexually abused are often left with understanding their abuse experience from the offender’s distorted perspective. Understanding offender tactics provides therapists and counsellors’ with a framework for children and their non abusive caregiver(s) in unravelling misplaced responsibility and self blame. A frame work for assessment and therapeutic interventions to assist children and their families in healing after the impact child sexual abuse will be provided To ensure your place, please register not less than one week prior to the starting date.
