Separating from your partner can be one of the most difficult times of your life.

Unfortunately sometimes children can become caught in the middle.

Family Resolutions

Separation is a time when many difficult decisions need to be made. Issues involving children and their needs are often difficult to resolve because of the breakdown of the relationship between parents.

KinWay offers a confidential facilitated resolution service that will assist you to address the sensitive issues of child residency and access, in a supportive environment for separated couples.

What does the service provide?

This is a confidential process by which people who are in conflict can be helped to communicate with each other about what is important to them and assist them in resolving their disputes.

This KinWay service has a child inclusive focus in that it assists parents to arrive at the best outcome for their child/ren.

Our qualified practitioners meet with parents and children to determine the issues and assist them to come up with acceptable solutions.

Agreements can be made and written documentation produced for lodging with legal practitioners/courts as appropriate.

Additional services

• Assessment of family/children's needs in relation to residency in court referred matters.
• Counselling reports, assessments or agreements in a cost sensitive manner on referral from magistrates or child representatives.
• These reports outline the dynamics within the family system, including an assessment of violence issues if present, assessment of all parties needs and include interviews with children as appropriate.
• Clients may self refer or be referred by community agencies, legal practitioners,Magistrates, Judges and Child Separate Representatives.

Children need to feel safe, protected and loved by both parents. They also need equal access to both parents to not feel guilty or pressured when they are seeing the other parent.

Parents need to remember that they are parents forever. Nothing will ever change that. Parents need to be able to talk to each other to provide constancy and consistency in caring and discipline for their children.

“Mums & Dads Forever” is a 7 week group programme, which helps separated parents manage conflict over child contact arrangements and act in the best interests of their children. The service helps parents help their children come to terms with a different family situation and communicate in ways which keep children feeling safe and happy.
