Mental Health First Aid

Cost: $ 319.00 Lunch provided

You will be trained to provide effective help for a person developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. A hands-on action plan is taught to enable quick reference in an emergency situation for depression, anxiety, substance abuse and psychotic disorders.

The program has been developed by the ORYGEN Research Institute in connection with the University of Melbourne, accrediting the certificate provided.

This 8-week course is an introduction to counselling and is designed for people who require basic skills in the area of counselling. People with a background in Education, Pastoral Care, Nursing, Reception, Medicine, Complementary Therapy Practice and other related helping professions would find this course most beneficial. At completion participants will be able to demonstrate the basic skills of helpful listening and responding, present basic problem solving strategies and display an understanding of their personal growth process.
